Police officers in custody over bribery, falsified transactions

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: Officers from the General Department of Criminal Investigations’ Nuwaiseeb Investigations Department dealt a major blow to two officers who were involved in completing fictitious transactions related to entry and exit movements in the country in exchange for a bribe of KD 100. The officers have been referred to the competent authorities. The Security Media Department stated that Nuwaiseeb Port Investigations Department of the General Department of Criminal Investigations in the Criminal Security Sector, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and uphold the rule of law, discovered a bribery case involving two police officers who had been engaged in processing fake transactions related to the entry and exit data for individuals traveling to and from the country in exchange for money.

The security follow-up of the case revealed that an agreement had been reached to offer a bribe in exchange for carrying out fictitious entry and exit movements in and out of the country. Investigations were conducted, after which an arrest warrant was issued against the two police officers, who eventually confessed to their crimes, which included accepting a bribe and falsifying entry and exit data in exchange for KD 100. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that legal measures have been taken against the officers referred to the competent authorities. It stressed that no one is above the law, and highlighted its commitment to continuing efforts to combat all forms of corruption, ensure justice, and protect the integrity of security operations
