KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: Two Sri Lankan expatriates were arrested in Khaitan area in possession of one and a half kilograms of hashish and one kilogram of crystal meth worth a total of KD 100,000. According to security sources, when officers from Drugs Control General Department received information about the involvement of two Sri Lankan expatriates in drug peddling, they arrested the latter in a trap and found one and a half kilograms of hashish and one kilogram of crystal meth as well as a special weighing scale used for drugs in their possession. When questioned, the suspects confessed that they smuggled the drugs via a checkpoint at Kuwait International Airport. They were referred with the confiscated drugs to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Car parts stolen: Two Syrian expatriates were arrested for stealing from vehicles that are parked in Shuwaikh Industrial Area and selling the stolen items at cheap prices. According to security sources, Capital securitymen launched investigations after receiving information about the theft crimes of two expatriates. They kept a tab on the activities of the two suspects and eventually arrested them in possession of some items stolen from a number of vehicles. When questioned, the suspects confessed to the thefts. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. Meanwhile, A Bangladeshi expa-triate who was wanted by law for his involvement in two theft cases was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Vice dens raided: Farwaniya police raided six vice dens in the area, resulting in the arrest of 28 prostitutes and 23 pimps and fun-seekers, reports Al- Qabas daily. All those arrested were referred to the concerned security body in preparation for their deportation.

Gas cylinders stolen: Rabya police arrested an Iranian man for allegedly stealing 40 cooking gas cylinders, reports Al-Shahed daily. The Iranian was driving a bus when a police patrol stopped him for routine inspection. He was referred to the concerned security unit because he failed to show proof on the source of the gas cylinders.

Doing drugs at work: Securitymen from the Drug Control General Department arrested a Kuwaiti policeman for consuming drugs in his workplace, reports Al-Anba daily. The policeman had in his possession some drug paraphernalia and he admitted to consuming drugs as proven by the blood test result. On the other hand, securitymen from the Criminal Investigation Department arrested two Kuwaiti firefighters for the possession of 10 sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Foreign liquor seized: Customs officers at Al-Nuwaiseeb border arrested a Kuwaiti man for attempting to smuggle six bottles of Black Label and two small bottles of Red Label which were hidden in a secret compartment in the trunk of his car, reports Al-Rai daily.
