KUWAIT CITY, July 11: Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has emphasized the urgent need to expedite the development of a comprehensive and actionable plan for the rehabilitation and development of significant historical and cultural landmarks in Ahmadi Governorate, particularly the old East Ahmadi Market and Ahmadi Cinema. This call to action was made during a meeting with leaders from the Kuwait Oil Company and the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, including Secretary- General Dr. Muhammad Al-Jassar and CEO Ahmad Al-Eidan, reports Al-Jarida daily . During the meeting, which took place on Thursday, July 11, 2024 the Governor, accompanied by a joint team from the three organizations, conducted a field tour of the old East Ahmadi Market and Ahmadi Cinema.
The tour included detailed historical explanations of the projects and discussions on the progress of their rehabilitation and development. The Governor underscored the importance of preserving the historical character of these landmarks while also aligning with contemporary development needs. Key points of discussion included identifying and overcoming obstacles that have hindered the projects in the past. The meeting aimed to establish a collaborative working mechanism among all parties involved to ensure the successful preservation and modernization of these cultural heritage sites.
Dr. Al-Jassar highlighted that there are no barriers to joint coordination between the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters and the Kuwait Oil Company regarding the projects. The attendees deliberated on several proposed solutions and agreed to form a joint working group within two weeks. This group will be responsible for offering their insights and preparing a comprehensive plan, with the objective of commencing the projects as soon as possible. In conclusion, Governor Sheikh Hamoud expressed his gratitude to the participating parties, commending their efforts thus far. He called for continued dedication to achieve the significant societal, cultural, and heritage goals associated with these projects.
