Pinto announces Kuwait squad for crucial qualifiers

KUWAIT CITY, May 26: Kuwait’s Portuguese national team coach, Rui Pinto, has unveiled the squad for the upcoming joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup finals against India and Afghanistan. The squad roster includes notable names such as Fahd Al-Hajri, Sami Al-Sanea, and Muhammad Dahham, among others, representing various clubs including Kuwait Club, Al-Qadisiya, Al-Arabi, and Salmiya.

Ahead of the crucial matches, the Kuwaiti delegation is set to depart for Thailand tomorrow for an external training camp lasting five days, followed by preparations in Calcutta for the clash against India.

The Football Association aims to use the camp to elevate the team’s readiness and ensure meticulous preparation for the vital showdown against India. The upcoming matches are pivotal for the Blue Team’s advancement to the decisive round and securing a spot in the Asian Cup finals, with victory being the ultimate goal.

Currently, the Qatari team leads the group standings with 12 points, followed by India in second place with 4 points, closely trailed by Afghanistan. Kuwait sits in fourth place with 3 points.
