KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) has requested Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) to allow road-paving contractors to import bitumen that is used for paving roads, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) supplies the required quantities of bitumen used for paving streets and is currently considering the establishment of a new unit to increase the quantities.

However, PART has requested KPC to allow contractors to import the required quantities in case of need and when the produced quantities are not available to meet the projects’ needs. The sources indicated that the main reason behind the lack of bitumen is the cessation of works in the producing unit where periodic maintenance works are ongoing.
