KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Criminal Security Sector successfully dismantled the operations of a "paramedic" involved in the illegal sale and promotion of narcotic pills after he was caught red-handed near Amiri Hospital. Authorities discovered 1,500 Lyrica and Tramadol pills in his apartment in Salmiya. The individual has been referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of trafficking in psychotropic substances.
According to a security source, the Capital Investigations Department received information about the suspect's involvement in dealing narcotic pills, particularly targeting women through social media. To apprehend him, investigators set up a sting operation, where a female decoy contacted him to purchase five pills. The suspect agreed to the transaction and arranged to meet near a cafeteria close to Amiri Hospital.
The operation proceeded after obtaining approval from the Public Prosecution, and the suspect was arrested in the act. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered 1,500 narcotic pills. During interrogation, he admitted to engaging in this illegal activity for over a year, citing financial struggles due to an insufficient salary as his reason for resorting to drug trafficking. He provided authorities with details about his suppliers and clients, revealing that he had frequently traveled to European countries to source the narcotics.
The source also noted that detectives have identified several individuals connected to the suspect through financial transactions, and these individuals are expected to be summoned for investigation.
