KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: Personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control have arrested a Pakistani man for smuggling heroin into the country through mail, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said an employee at the Sulaibiya Post Office suspected a parcel coming from Pakistan and when a senior official of the department opened the packet, he found 500 grams of heroin.

The official then packed the parcel and replaced the heroin with white powder and in coordination with the General Department for Drugs Control sent the parcel to the Al-Dajeej Office. Three days later, a Sri Lankan who went to receive the parcel was arrested. The Sri Lankan then said the parcel belonged to a Pakistani and officials at the Dajeej office found one more similar parcel with the same quantity of heroin which came in the name of the Pakistani.

Armed with a search and arrest warrant, securitymen raided the home of the Pakistani in Salwa and seized from him 100 grams of heroin. The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control. During interrogation the Pakistani said he had earlier received four similar packets of drugs.
