KUWAIT CITY, July 3: The Ministry of Interior announced that the Anti-Financial Crimes Department in the Criminal Security Sector’s General Department of Criminal Investigations has arrested an employee of the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) on charges of forging official documents and receiving bribes, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The ministry explained that it coordinated with senior PACI officials after receiving information that the accused abused his official powers to access the electronic system and transfer residents’ addresses without their knowledge or the submission of official documents.

Investigations revealed the accused had added fake addresses in exchange for fees of up to KD 120 per transaction. It was discovered that the employee was involved in processing more than 5,000 such transactions since the beginning of the current year, in cooperation with several brokers inside and outside Kuwait. The ministry also reported the arrest of two brokers and seven individuals who paid money to complete these transactions.

Further investigation revealed that the accused used the proceeds to purchase jewelry, gold bars, and other luxury items in order to conceal the source of the funds. The accused and the seized assets were referred to the Public Prosecution for necessary legal action.
