KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Kuwait’s General Traffic Department said on Wednesday that its nationwide campaigns and checkpoints last week resulted in more than 32,000 traffic violations, over 1,000 recorded accidents, and the arrest of 28 juveniles for driving without licenses.
The juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution, the department said in a statement. Police documented 1,041 traffic accidents, including 196 that caused injuries and 845 limited to material damage.
During the campaign, authorities referred 10 vehicles to the impound garage for violations. They also arrested 106 expatriates with expired residency permits, 34 people without identification papers, 38 wanted individuals, and seized 64 vehicles that were either wanted by the judiciary or reported stolen.
Two people were referred to the General Department for Drug Control for possessing narcotics.
The department stated that it will continue to intensify efforts to curb traffic violations and reckless driving, aiming to safeguard lives and property, and urging motorists to comply with traffic laws.
