First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: During a visit to the Khalifa family’s diwan in Khaldiya recently, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef highlighted several important issues, particularly the revocation of citizenship, the granting of citizenship to those who have rendered exceptional services to Kuwait, traffic violations, and workers’ cities, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Regarding the issue of citizenship revocation, Sheikh Fahad said, “To those who promote the idea that citizenships revoked under Articles 8 and 5 of the relevant law will be reinstated, I say that such decisions rest solely with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait. I do not believe there is any act that merits the granting of citizenship except for martyrs who sacrifice their lives for Kuwait. We have found civilians and employees of companies and associations who have obtained Kuwaiti citizenship, and I do not believe their contributions fall under the category of exceptional services. Only those who shed their blood in wars for the sake of Kuwait or during the Kuwait Liberation War have rendered truly outstanding services to the nation.
Where were the forgers of citizenship who entered Kuwait in the 1950s and 1960s? They all fled. The fathers, mothers, grandfathers, and grandmothers... They all escaped and left their children in Kuwait. Someone who truly cares about Kuwait is very different from someone who only cares about money. Whenever I see a problem in Kuwait, I say, ‘Check the nationality’, and then we discover that it was obtained through fraud. True Kuwaiti patriots defend and protect their country in all fields, and that this is what Kuwait deserves.” Sheikh Fahad went on to reveal that there are individuals who have obtained Kuwaiti citizenship and continue to enjoy the privileges reserved for citizens while residing outside Kuwait.
Regarding traffic fines and the two-month impoundment of vehicles for parking violations, Sheikh Fahad stressed that Kuwait has laws that must be respected. Concerning the issue of demographic imbalance, Sheikh Fahad emphasized that the top priority of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait is the establishment of labor cities. He highlighted that each company has been assigned a specific quota for the number of its workers to ensure there is no favoritism toward any particular nationality.
Regarding anti-money laundering measures, Sheikh Fahad explained that all cash purchases, including gold, have been suspended for several months. Even pharmacies do not permit cash purchases of medicines exceeding KD 10.
