O guardian, Kuwait call is a painful cry

THE call of patriotic personalities to the guardian, published recently in Al-Seyassah daily, is the cry of the stricken one, after the knife reached the bone as a result of the paralysis that the country suffers from.

This is due to the Cabinet’s trend of procrastination, in the hope of a miracle to happen that would save its prime minister from being grilled in the parliament due to his inability to run the country, and also the National Assembly in which the MPs are only interested in achieving personal gains.

This plea, which was appreciated and welcomed by the majority of Kuwaitis, is evidence of the extent of the popular discontent with the situation prevailing in the country for nearly three years.

This is something that the newspapers alluded to, and I talked about this directly several times, but did not find ears to listen due to the fact that those in the government are not in the process of hearing the others because they are afraid their shortcomings and their lack of knowledge of the principles of management will be exposed. Instead, they deliberately conceal and obscure the facts in various ways.

What makes matters worse is the open conflict between some wings of the ruling family, which undoubtedly casts a shadow over public affairs, and trolls with murky waters to benefit from it to achieve their own ends.

It also leads to a vertical political division in the legislative and executive authorities. It has become clear that there is a faction in the National Assembly that seeks to dissolve it and deliberately disrupts the legislation that is filled with its proposals and projects, and devotes itself to fighting its battles with members of the executive authority.

Kuwait has suffered from this abnormal situation for many years, leading it on a continuous decline, at a time when a strong and capable executive authority was not available, and it was not aware of the size of the responsibilities placed upon it.

Therefore, instead of working in solidarity and exercising its correct role, we find it quickly relinquishing its powers, and throwing ministers under the bus by removing the Prime Minister from the accountability platform.

In this call, a lot was said, but little has been said by the Kuwaitis who wake up to one crisis and sleep on another. This has made them feel lost in the desert. Routine solutions no longer work, either it is bribery such that the more the beneficiary gets, the more he asks, or appointments to positions, or deals between the government and the MPs. The two parties have proven their incompetence, and they are the cause of the country’s crises. Therefore, not responding to this call will undoubtedly lead to more tension and popular anger, and that is dangerous.

Undoubtedly, there are advisers who will recommend ignoring this cry on the basis that “ignorance is bliss”. Such people do not want any good for Kuwait or for the ruling family and the people. That is because “ignorance” in this regard would generate pain, and the aching person will not be silent and will work in various ways to sedate himself, even if it is through cauterization.

Time has not run out yet. There are many solutions that the political leadership can work on in order to preserve what remains of a country that two irresponsible authorities have thrown into the mouth of the monster of incompetence and erosion.

This situation has increased the level of popular anger and resentment over the overall political performance to unprecedented levels in the history of the country. Kuwait, throughout its history, has not witnessed this kind of vacuum in the legislative and executive authorities, even under the most difficult circumstances.

Under the current extremely sensitive circumstances locally, regionally and internationally, there is no longer any time to wait for miracles. Their time is over. What is required is to pay attention to what was stated in this call, and to work quickly with all those who love their homeland, and are detached from personal goals for the sake of a quick and thoughtful rescue plan.

Also, there should be a care for aides, because the art of leadership, according to all the leaders who rose up in their country, is choosing the competent and not appointing the beloved as advisors.
