KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to Kuwait Ju Myong Chol affirmed that his country is keen on strengthening its bilateral relations with Kuwait in various fields. Ju made the statement at a ceremony organized by the embassy to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Minister Plenipotentiary Saleh Al-Sarawi and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Sabah attended the event.

In his speech, Ju praised the pioneering humanitarian role that Kuwait plays at the regional and international levels, and its well-deserved status as the International Humanitarian Center. He stressed that relations between the two countries have witnessed numerous milestones over the past years, which have contributed to ongoing efforts to strengthen ties. He highlighted the support and assistance that Kuwait provided to his country through the development loans granted by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development or through humanitarian aid during natural disasters.

He added that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea continuously works toward strengthening cooperation with Kuwait in the interest of the friendly peoples of the two countries. He commended Kuwait Vision 2035, which aims to diversify the economy, raise the standard of living, and push for human and social development. He also praised the role of Kuwait in supporting joint Arab action and maintaining international peace and security under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Regarding the occasion, Ju revealed that his country is celebrating the founding anniversary of the Republic on Sept 9, 1948 -- the day that witnessed the birth of the first independent State in the history of the Korean people. He said this occasion is a historic milestone in building a strong and independent State. He pointed out that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has continued to toe the path of construction and development over the past decades, leading to its development achievements today in the areas of housing, industry, regional development, infrastructure, and tourism. He stressed that his country continues to advance toward prosperity and development, while strengthening cooperation with Kuwait to serve the interests of both nations. He then thanked all those present for their participation in the celebration, as well as the Crowne Plaza Hotel for sponsoring the event.
