Nicole Kidman seeks residency in Portugal, eyes luxury European escape

LOS ANGELES, July 24: Nicole Kidman is seeking a permanent European retreat.

The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress recently applied for residency in Portugal, signaling her intention to spend more time in the sunny country. According to local media outlet SIC Notícias, Kidman submitted her application this week to Portugal’s Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA).

Recently spotted arriving on a private jet in Cascais, an affluent coastal area near Lisbon, Kidman is reportedly searching for a luxury home in one of Portugal’s most exclusive gated communities.

Interestingly, her husband Keith Urban’s name was not included on any of the submitted documents.

Kidman is believed to be interested in a property at CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a 722-acre luxury development about 81 miles south of Lisbon. This high-end community is popular among celebrities such as George Clooney and Paris Hilton, and is also home to Princess Eugenie. It was also rumored that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought a home there last year, reportedly paying over $4.7 million for one of the 300 residences planned in the complex.

CostaTerra is part of the Discovery Land Company, founded by Mike Meldman, who co-invested with Clooney in the tequila brand Casamigos.

While Urban hasn’t filed any residency paperwork, Portuguese TV network TVI reported that he and Kidman already own a luxurious property in Lisbon.

Representatives for Kidman have been contacted for comment.

Kidman and the 57-year-old country singer share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. The family is known to split their time between the US and Australia, with Europe possibly becoming a new addition to their lifestyle.

Since marrying in 2006, the couple has built an extensive international real estate portfolio.

Almost two decades ago, they purchased two penthouses in Sydney’s exclusive North Sydney Latitude building, combining them into one large condo.

Their first joint property acquisition came a year after their wedding with a 36-acre estate in Franklin, Tennessee, purchased for over $3 million. The following year, they acquired a mansion in Nashville’s prestigious Northumberland community, adding to their collection which also includes homes in Manhattan, Sydney, and New South Wales.
