KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Colonel Othman Al-Gharib, Director of the Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior, has reaffirmed that using a mobile phone while waiting at a traffic light constitutes a clear violation of Kuwait’s traffic laws.
Colonel Al-Gharib emphasized that even when a vehicle is stationary at a red light, drivers are not permitted to hold or use their phones, as driving demands full focus and attention at all times. Distractions of any kind, he noted, can impede traffic flow and cause delays for vehicles behind, particularly when the light turns green.
He further explained that advanced surveillance cameras and the ministry’s central control room continuously monitor intersections and record such violations in real time.
Colonel Al-Gharib urged motorists to comply with the traffic regulations fully, noting that while the number of these offenses has decreased due to the implementation of stricter laws, sustained awareness and caution remain essential to ensure public safety.
