KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The Cabinet has recommended that all invoices issued by the state include a statement detailing the actual financial cost of services and the amount paid by citizens and residents. This measure is intended to raise awareness about the support provided by the state and promote a culture of social responsibility and rationalized consumption. The initiative also aims to highlight the financial costs borne by the state, thereby fostering a better understanding of the budgetary implications among the public.
In line with the government’s directives to ensure that support reaches those who genuinely need it, the Council of Ministers has requested that relevant government agencies submit details of the measures they plan to implement to reduce the value of support. These agencies are also asked to propose future steps for further scrutiny by the Prime Minister. A deadline of one week, starting from July 30, has been set for these agencies to report on their progress.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers has tasked government agencies with addressing observations and implementing recommendations from the Government Performance Follow-up Agency's annual report for 2023. Agencies are required to provide periodic reports within three months, detailing their efforts and procedures. The Government Performance Follow-up Agency is also expected to submit a visual presentation every three months to the Council of Ministers, outlining the progress made in addressing the observations and recommendations in the report.
The 2023 report includes several key recommendations, such as following up on ministerial decisions, monitoring government projects, conducting public opinion polls, and studying the Audit Bureau’s report. The report particularly emphasizes recommendations related to ministries, government departments, affiliated and independent entities, inventorying and valuing state real estate properties, and tightening control over these assets. Additionally, it calls for monitoring periodic employment affairs reports to ensure effective governance and resource management.
