KUWAIT CITY, Sep 11: The discovery of the narcotic-laden papers was made during ongoing inspection campaigns by the General Administration of Correctional Institutions, aimed at controlling contraband and maintaining order within the prison. The latest raid, conducted yesterday morning in Ward 5, led to the confiscation of three rolls containing approximately 20 A4-sized sheets, all saturated with narcotics.
The source noted that the rolls were hidden in concealed locations within the ward. Along with the drug-laced papers, authorities seized drug paraphernalia, mobile phones, various charging cables, and sharp objects. An investigation has been launched to determine how these items were smuggled into the prison, with surveillance footage now under review.
The Central Prison Security Department has launched an investigation involving several inmates in Ward 5 to identify the source of narcotic-laced paper rolls. A security source informed that these chemically saturated papers represent a new method of drug use and mark an unprecedented incident within the prison system.
The source explained that questioning the inmates will not be the only approach taken. Other methods will also be employed to trace how the narcotic papers entered the facility, determine their spread among inmates in other prison wards, and check if similar papers infused with other substances are circulating.
