NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat held the seventh round of consultations on Tuesday with senior Indian officials at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters. The talks focused on following up on the outcomes of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuwait last December, during which he held discussions with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Hayat, in a phone call with KUNA, said he met with Vice Minister of External Affairs Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Assistant Minister for Gulf Affairs Ausaf Sayeed Mahajan, and other senior officials. He said the consultation covered the bilateral cooperation in politics and international forums, as well as in economic, trade, investment, and cultural. Discussions also touched on higher education, scientific research, civil aviation, oil, renewable energy, industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI), healthcare, and medical services. Hayat reaffirmed that Prime Minister Modi's visit consolidated the Kuwait-India deep-rooted historic ties, adding that further high-level visits are planned, as well as a joint roadmap that includes sectoral workshops throughout the year to advance cooperation across various fields.
Hayat added that Kuwait and India share similar views on many regional and international issues, particularly their support for peaceful solutions to global conflicts. He also took note on the Indian community in Kuwait, which exceeds one million people, addressing the role of Indian workers across various sectors, especially construction and infrastructure projects involving Indian companies, pointing out that the meetings were marked by a positive atmosphere, with both sides largely aligned in their positions.
Kuwait's Ambassador to India Meshal Al-Shamali attended the meeting along with India's Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Adarsh Swaika, from Kuwait's Embassy in New Delhi Counselor Fawaz Al-Qahtani, and diplomatic attaches Sharifa Bokhudour and Altaf Danboh. Ambassador Hayat arrived in New Delhi early Tuesday to head Kuwait's delegation to the seventh round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries. (KUNA)
