Need to prevent students from driving parents’ cars

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: The concerned security sectors have taken all the necessary security and traffic measures to fully prepare for the new school year. The source affirmed that these sectors will work according to a clear strategy and several axes aimed at ensuring the safety of students; as per the applicable principles, values, loyalty to the homeland, tolerance, rejection of violence and protection of public property.

The source said the Ministry of Interior’s plan for the new school year is entrusted to most of its sectors. He disclosed the Public Relations and Security Media General Department in the ministry plays a pivotal role in coordinating with various media platforms through its social media accounts, news flash on television, and publication of instructions and awareness messages to reach the target segment and achieve the desired goals; in addition to the major role of the Public Security Sector and the Operations and Traffic Sector. He confirmed that Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Hamad Al-Munaifihas instructed the security directors in the governorates to strictly implement the security plan for opening schools next week. He revealed the plan includes intensified security presence to monitor traffic flow, remove the obstacles that parents might face in terms of traffic congestion or requesting assistance, and coordinate with the schools to guarantee a quick response in case the presence of security men is required to deal with any problem.

He added Director of Ahmadi Security Directorate Brigadier Abdullah Rajab had a meeting with the concerned officials in the governorates, during which he stressed the need to prevent underage students from driving their parents’ vehicles to protect their lives and that of other road users. He went on to say that the Operations and Traffic Sector, headed by Major General Yousef Al-Khudah, will monitor traffic movement on all roads through the foot and fixed patrols, as well as the Control Unit. He stated that more than 1,000 officers and non-commissioned officers will be deployed from 6:00 am until the students leave the schools.

He urged the parents to fully cooperate with traffic patrols and police deployed on main roads, in internal areas, and around schools and universities; and to follow the instructions regarding the roads and alternative routes through the Global Positioning System (GPS) to avoid traffic jams. He called on vehicle drivers to be careful to ensure the safety of students, especially those passing through the pedestrian crossings, and to pay attention when students get on and off vehicles to achieve the highest level of security and safety for everyone.
