KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: The Kuwait Municipality announced the issuance of 91 violations and warnings, 18 closure orders for violating building regulations and giving a deadline to voluntarily vacate 12 basements, in addition to blocking 42 violating properties within the third week of the campaign launched in cooperation with the concerned authorities.

The Municipality said in a press statement Monday that the campaign included the detection of commercially exploited basements in buildings and building violations on the roofs of investment properties in all governorates to prevent the use of basements as stores or shops in violation of the regulations and systems in the building regulations and shop licenses.

The press statement confirmed that the teams will continue to intensify their field tours in the governorates to activate their oversight role and ensure that basements are not exploited other than what is licensed in the engineering plan, while taking legal measures against the violator, stressing the need not to engage in any activity without obtaining a license from it.
