KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: The Municipality has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that 'home canopies' in commercial and private residential areas are being removed.

In a statement, the Municipality confirmed that these claims are baseless, explaining that in the event of any removal procedure, a notice sticker is placed beforehand and action is taken only after the legal period has expired.

The Municipality further clarified that there is continuous coordination with the Ministry of Public Works to implement comprehensive maintenance of main, secondary, and internal roads within private residential areas.

It added that any removal of canopies in front of schools or homes occurs solely as part of road maintenance projects, which include repairs to asphalt and tile surfaces, as well as other civil works. Such efforts fall under the new contracts for extensive maintenance being carried out across Kuwait’s governorates by the Ministry of Public Works.

The Municipality urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and facilitate street maintenance operations in residential areas, particularly when home canopies obstruct the progress of work conducted by service ministries.
