KUWAIT CITY, March 21: The National Assembly Secretariat-General has asked the MPs and its employees, who will attend the session slated for Tuesday, to undergo medical checkup at the Assembly building from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm on Sunday.

In another development, MP Sa’adoun Hammad called on Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Sabah to instruct the Embassy of Kuwait in London to immediately repatriate the corpse of Walid Abdulaziz Al-Mansour – a Kuwaiti. He pointed out Al-Mansour’s remains are still in London despite the fact that he passed away on March 18 and all the necessary procedures have been completed.

Meanwhile, MP Hamad Barrak Al-Mutair urged the government to enforce curfew; stressing that although most people are abiding by the regulations, a few are defying the directives and they can cause harm to society as they will contribute to the spread of coronavirus.

Increase
He also appealed to the political leadership to speed up the evacuation of citizens stranded abroad; especially in Turkey where, according to him, things are getting worse as the number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase.

He said the evacuation directive should include those convicted of storming the Assembly as a humanitarian gesture. On the other hand, MP Saleh Ashour criticized the appeals made by the government for citizens and expatriates to stay at home; stressing that the authorities must enforce proper regulations to guarantee public safety.

He asked: “How could you expect people to stay at home if shopping centers like X-cite Alghanim, Eureka, Centerpoint and car agencies on the Fourth Ring Road are open 24/7?” He also condemned the announcement made by the Ministry of Interior about the arrest of a female citizen for violating the Ministry of Health’s directive on banning gatherings.

He described this step as selective because it focused on the violation of one woman; while ignoring grave violations in Shuwaikh, shopping malls, walking tracks and other events. The woman that Ashour mentioned was accused of violating the ban on gatherings when she organized a Shiite religious event in her house.
