Motocross star Jayo Archer dies while practicing trick

WASHINGTON, Feb 22, (Agencies): Australian motocross sensation and X Games medalist, Jayden “Jayo” Archer, has tragically passed away at the age of 27.

The untimely incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Archer’s hometown of Melbourne, Australia, as he was practicing a daring triple backflip, as reported by ESPN. Nitro Circus, the renowned action sports collective to which Archer belonged, officially announced his passing in a heartfelt statement posted on Instagram.

“The Nitro Circus family is deeply saddened by the loss of Jayo Archer. Jayo embodied passion, hard work, and determination. He elevated dirt bike stunts to unprecedented heights, leaving an indelible mark. A positive force to those around him, Jayo was not only a phenomenal athlete but, above all, a cherished human being and friend to us all,” expressed the Nitro Circus statement.

Before making a name for himself as a motocross star, Archer served as an assistant mechanic for Nitro Circus, gradually working his way into the spotlight. His debut performance with the collective took place in 2012.

In a significant achievement, Archer became one of only three riders to successfully execute the triple backflip in November 2022, showcasing his prowess at the Nitro World Games. In an interview following this groundbreaking feat, he shared the intense dedication and years of effort he had invested in mastering the maneuver.

“I cannot describe this feeling. This is so much more than a competition and a trick to me. I’ve dedicated my whole life for the last three years doing this,” Archer expressed in a video posted on the Nitro Circus YouTube page. Despite enduring numerous setbacks, including injuries and accidents, he emphasized his willingness to endure it all for the chance to relive that triumphant moment.

Travis Pastrana, co-founder of Nitro Circus, expressed the profound impact of Archer’s passing, stating, “Jayo grew up in a time when action sports was at its biggest, and he always wanted to do the big stuff like the double and the triple, even though there weren’t a lot of places to showcase those bigger tricks.” The motocross community mourns the loss of a fearless and pioneering talent in Jayden “Jayo” Archer.
