KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8, (KUNA): Ministry of Communications announced Saturday it repaired most of the telephone faults caused by heavy rain witnessed in the country in the past weeks, in accordance with maintenance contracts signed between the Ministry and the executing contractor.

In a press statement by the ministry, Assistant Undersecretary for supportive telecommunication services (Eng) Rashid Al-Othaina said a number of copper cables were damaged because water gathered in drainage system that led to stopping the telephone service. “Currently, the remaining cables are being repaired, but the completion of this work requires many procedures that must be carried out by the ministry in coordination with the ministries of Public Works and Interior”, Al-Othaina added.

“We need permission from some administrations to be able to proceed in this process which will take some time … we need to close some roads located within the Ministry of Works project areas to carry out the maintenance required”, he explained.

Al-Othaina assured that the ministry is doing its best to fix the damaged cables as soon as possible and get the service back to subscribers. He praised efforts made by the ministry’s technical team working in this regard, and valued measures taken by the ministries of Public Works and Interior in helping the ministry’s team completing their mission.
