KUWAIT CITY, March 1: The Kuwait Municipality has requested the Ministry of Interior to restart the parking meter system in the Capital Governorate, reports Al-Qabas daily. A reliable source told the daily, this came after the Municipality saw some of the meters for ‘vertical parking’ were damaged which led to some motorists parking vehicles for long hours.

The Municipality said these parking spaces are exploited by some shop owners who have shops adjacent to these parking places because these parking spaces have not been used for what they are intended to.

The sources added, called on the concerned authorities to make optimal use of these meters and at the same time preserve the aesthetics of the capital.

The daily quoting a Municipality official said these meters need to be repaired in downtown Kuwait City such as Al- Salhiya and Fahd Al-Salem Street before moving to other areas of Kuwait.
