KUWAIT CITY, Sept 11: Actor Ahmed Gohar has attributed the delayed showing of his comedy series, ‘Dinar Naseeb Mukhtar’, to bureaucracy at the Ministry of Information; explaining that routine procedures in the ministry led to postponement of the series more than once and it was supposed to be shown in the last Ramadan drama season, reports Al- Rai daily.
Gohar pointed out the issue is not limited to his series as there are about seven or eight other series which have yet to be shown on Kuwait TV. He expects these series to be shown in the coming season, although the dates have not been specified as the producers are waiting for a meeting with the ministry to know the deadline for their presentation. He added most of the concerned officials are on vacation.
He said he is against showing his works during Ramadan “because it is unfair as the full right is not ensured, especially in light of the abundance of competing works in the holy month. Therefore, the series does not enjoy high percentage of viewing, unlike those shown in other months. Also, there are a lot of series slated for Ramadan which leaves no room for replays and this often leads to loss of efforts exerted in producing the series.”
He added his series tackles social issues in comedy form, indicating the story is about an Egyptian man (Medhat) who knows that his sister married Naseeb – a swindler. Medhat rescues his sister from her swindler husband with the help of Dirar, Mukhtar and ex-wife of Naseeb (Munerah). The series is also directed and written by Gohar. His co-stars include Abdulrahman Al-Aqel, Intisar Al-Sharrah, Hussein Al-Mansour, Mays Kamar, Ismail Al-Rashed, Heba Al-Absi, Mubarak Sultan, Mohammed Jaber, Heba Suleiman, Khaled Al-Ajeerib, Shehab Hajiya and Abdulhamid Al-Subki.
