MoH enhances healthcare leadership with new training program

The International Health Relations Department of the Ministry of Health has organized a training program titled “Health Leadership for Positive Change.”

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31, (Agencies): The International Health Relations Department of the Ministry of Health organized a training course titled “Health Leadership for Positive Change.” Dr. Rahab Al-Watyan, the department’s director, highlighted the significance of these training programs in enhancing various components of the healthcare system. These programs align with the latest global developments in modern healthcare management, based on studies, facts, and healthcare system performance evaluations.

Al-Watyan emphasized that these training programs provide opportunities for refining healthcare leadership skills and exchanging experiences to achieve common goals in enhancing the healthcare system’s performance. This is in line with global sustainable development objectives related to health and well-being.

She further explained that the current training course, which commenced on October 29 and concludes tomorrow, is the third edition of its kind. The first was held in October 2021, while the second took place in 2022.

Dr. Rahab Al-Watyan stated that this training course, hosted at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations, featured lecturers from reputable international universities outside Kuwait. The program aims to shed light on the role of healthcare leadership in planning, policy development, and positive leadership to enhance healthcare system performance. It also aims to enhance managerial and technical skills for healthcare leaders in various positions, contributing to the goals of healthcare system development.

Al-Watyan highlighted that this training course offers young healthcare leaders the opportunity to sharpen their experiences, exchange knowledge, and gain more expertise throughout its activities. The “Health Leadership for Positive Change” program includes lectures, collective practical exercises for knowledge exchange, best practice reviews, and involvement from healthcare management consultants from universities such as Johns Hopkins, York, and Philadelphia. It also includes a selection of healthcare professionals from various sectors within the Ministry of Health, including doctors from health centers and hospitals, nursing professionals in various roles, quality management experts, and accreditation personnel.
