KUWAIT CITY, March 22: While the Ministry of Education has received 1,176 resignation requests for teachers from the six educational districts in various disciplines, educational sources in the public education sector told Al-Jarida daily the sector will look to fill vacant positions with Kuwaitis, children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaiti men, bedoun, Gulf citizens, and residents, reports Al-Jarida daily.

However, the specializations of those teachers who have opted to resign will be looked into before making new appointments particularly those in short supply, especially since the number may increase slightly by the end of the school year. The sources indicated that the ministry will work, during the coming period, to provide the number of teachers in the specializations that it needs, especially since the start of the new scholastic year will be in September, and therefore there is ample time to achieve sufficiency in the event of a shortage of any specialization.

Closure
Returning to the subject of resignations, the sources confirmed that the annual natural rate of resignations is in the range of 400 to 500 and more than a thousand this year may be due to the circumstances of the corona pandemic, and the difficulty of teachers meeting with their families especially with the closure of airports, the coercive conditions accompanying the pandemic, the high prices and difficult living conditions that may be a reason for some to leave.
