KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9: The Ministry of Education has requested its finance counterpart to approve a budget amounting to KD2.7 billion for fiscal 2024/2025, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources informed the daily that the Financial Sector in the Ministry of Education prepared the draft budget, which was submitted to the Ministry of Finance for approval. They disclosed the draft budget includes salaries and bonuses, which exceeded KD2 billion due to the increase in the number of employees in the educational and administrative sectors, coinciding with the opening of new schools and the plan to open more schools later due to the urban expansion and establishment of residential like Mutlaa, West Abdullah Mubarak and others.

They added the number of employees in the Ministry of Education reached around 143,000 including teachers and administrators, pointing out that the salaries item consumes approximately 90 percent of the budget. In another development, the grade 12 students in the scientific, literary and religious education sections continued their exams for the first academic period on Monday when they took the Arabic Language test, while Tuesday is a rest day and the exams will resume on Wednesday.

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Anwar Al-Hamdan continued her field tours, accompanied by acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Hessa Al-Mutawa and acting Assistant Undersecretary for Special Education Dr Salman Al-Lafito personally look into the progress of work in the examination committees in religious education institutes. Al-Mutawa said there are four religious institutes for the secondary stage and the number of students is reached 794. “We visited Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait Religious Secondary Institute for boys and Cordoba Religious Institute for girls. We are keen on implementing the regulations to ensure the quality of education and the progress of the educational process,” she stressed.
