KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced Tuesday that its Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department is continuing intensive inspection tours of markets in preparation for the back-to-school season.
Director of the Commercial Control Department at the ministry, Faisal Al-Ansari, told KUNA that "the inspection teams are focusing their campaigns on monitoring the prices of school supplies and checking invoices to ensure that the increased demand during this period is not exploited."
He added that "these tours aim to ensure that stationery and office supplies shops comply with laws, decisions and regulations that guarantee consumer protection."
Al-Ansari explained that the campaigns span various governorates and include both main and sub-markets, where stationery and office supply stores are being inspected to ensure the availability of goods in sufficient quantities and of the required quality.
He pointed out that the inspection teams are also monitoring for any illegal practices or attempts to impose artificial price increases, and are prepared to take the necessary legal measures against violators.
Al-Ansari stressed that the ministry "will not tolerate any attempt to raise prices unjustifiably or violate the laws regulating markets," adding that the primary goal of these campaigns is "to protect the consumer and ensure the availability of their school needs at fair prices."
