KD 25 fine, jail in car horn misuse

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: To address the disturbances caused by vehicle horns on the roads, Assistant Director of Traffic Awareness at the General Traffic Department Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan says using a car horn for purposes other than intended constitutes a traffic violation. He revealed that this offense incurs one point on the traffic points system, a fine of KD 25, and could lead to jail time if the case is taken to court and a conviction is secured. In an interview with Kuwait TV, Lieutenant Colonel Bu Hassan clarified that car horns are intended only to warn other drivers of imminent danger or an accident, rather than to attract attention to themselves or to annoy others. He urged all drivers to adhere to traffic laws, especially considering the presence of elderly and vulnerable drivers on the roads.
