Medical associations support MoH move to circumvent spread of the coronavirus

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: Undersecretary of Ministry of Health Dr Mustafa Redha has temporarily suspended the use of fingerprint attendance system until March 31 as one of the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, reports Al- Anba daily.

Attendance and departure of the employees will be verified by signing the attendance and departure registers prepared by work centers at the time of entry and exit.

They should be sent to the competent authority to take necessary action according to the instructions of the Council of Ministers and the Civil Service Commission (CSC). On the other hand, professional medical public benefit societies have issued a statement to affirm their support for the measures taken by Ministry of Health to limit the spread of the coronavirus. This is because they are in line with international recommendations. In fact, the ministry has even increased some measures in accordance with the nature of “our beloved country Kuwait” and its high capabilities in response to the epidemic.

In a statement, they warned against any media and political gains that do not value the public interest of the country and do not support the concern to care for health of the society. The societies stressed that any statements issued so far against the current procedures and precautions are statements of wrong estimation that do not serve the health of the society and may have secondary goals that are not in the national interest.

They said, “This came after the global health situation and the spread of the new coronavirus epidemic (Covid-19), entering Kuwait locally within the scope of this spread. We carried out our national duty as public medical professional societies, which are Kuwait Medical Association, Kuwait Dental Association, Kuwait Pharmaceutical Society, the Union of Private Medical Professionals, Union of Companies and Private Hospitals, and the Kuwait Society of Surgeons in terms of caring for community health and enhancing partnership and cooperation with the official health organization in the country”.

The societies indicated that it is aware of the measures taken by Ministry of Health to prevent the outbreak of the new coronavirus epidemic (Covid-19) and the extent of their conformity and suitability with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and its regional office.

This is in addition to reviewing the statements of the WHO regional office regarding the precautionary measures of Kuwait to prevent the spread of this epidemic. They added, “We also follow local people’s reactions, including political and local media movement, and circulate this article on all social media”.
