KUWAIT CITY, Sept 15: Sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy have disclosed that the ministry collected 23 million dinars from expatriates over the past year, from September 1, 2023, to the beginning of this month.
According to the sources, the increase in collections is primarily due to new procedures linking the Electricity Ministry with the Ministries of Interior and Justice. These procedures include measures that prevent expatriates from traveling or conducting transactions until their outstanding dues are paid.
The sources highlighted that the connection system between the Electricity Ministry and the Interior Ministry operates with high efficiency, significantly contributing to the successful collection of these debts. The integration of these systems began in mid-April 2023 and has proven effective in recovering overdue payments.
This initiative is part of a broader state effort to collect overdue debts for the benefit of the public treasury and address concerns raised by regulatory authorities regarding the collection of electricity dues.
