MoC yet to collect dues of KD 60mn

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: According to informed sources, the Ministry of Communications has accumulated dues totaling KD 60 million from individuals and companies. In a press release, the ministry stated that it will coordinate with government agencies to prohibit transactions for individuals and businesses that fall behind their debt payments. The ban will remain in place until all outstanding payments for services provided by the ministry are settled. The ministry indicated that notifications have been sent to subscribers in recent days via the government app “Sahel”, urging them to expedite payment of their financial dues for the services provided by the ministry.

Meanwhile, the sources confirmed that the automated disconnection process will be activated in early December, targeting all household and commercial subscriptions whose owners have not paid the required dues. The sources indicated that the ministry will send a second notification in the coming days via the government app “Sahel” to inform subscribers of the outstanding amount they owe. They urged subscribers to pay their dues promptly to ensure uninterrupted service and avoid being included in the disconnection program or facing a ban on government transactions. The sources said payments can be made either through the ministry’s website or in person at designated areas using the KNet service.

They highlighted that the ministry has introduced new debt collection mechanisms, including requiring advance payment for the annual telephone service subscription before it is activated at the subscriber’s home. A certificate of clearance will also be required for transactions related to the ministry, and services will be cut off for those who fail to pay. The Ministry of Communications affirmed its commitment to continuing the collection of financial dues for services provided to subscribers, in coordination with government institutions to preven
t transactions for individuals and companies with outstanding debts.
