KUWAIT CITY, June 15: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has called on citizens and residents to reduce electricity consumption during the peak summer season to help maintain essential services and avoid power outages.
Ministry spokesperson Eng. Fatima Jawhar Hayat said in a press statement Saturday that temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days, which will likely lead to a significant increase in electricity demand. She urged the public to cooperate and adopt energy-saving practices to ease the load on the national grid.
Hayat explained that scheduled power cuts are among the operational measures the ministry may resort to, but only when absolutely necessary and in the narrowest scope, to preserve the stability and efficiency of the country's electrical system.
She emphasized the ministry’s commitment to transparency, noting that all updates and decisions regarding the power supply will be shared through official media channels. Hayat also urged the public to rely on verified sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumors or misinformation.
“These procedures are neither new nor related to any technical faults or emergencies, nor are they linked to current regional developments,” she clarified. “They have been previously applied during similar periods of extreme heat and increased electrical loads.”
The ministry reiterated its dedication to ensuring a steady power supply and safeguarding public interest, while appealing for collective responsibility in managing electricity consumption during this critical period.
