KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: The concerned officials in the Ministry of Health are closely following up the case of an Egyptian female doctor in Raqqa Health Center, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the ministry.

Sources affirmed the ministry does not hesitate in protecting all the medical and nursing staff assigned in its facilities. Sources disclosed the above-mentioned doctor has been working in East Mubarak Al-Kabeer Health Center for 10 years and was assigned at Raqqa Health Center under the shift system. Sources said the doctor is known among her colleagues for her good conduct and strict compliance with the rules and laws on work in the health sector.

Sources pointed out the incident entails the need to toughen penalties for those who assault doctors and nurses in health centers and hospitals, indicating such an incident that recurs from time to time reduces the value and status of doctors in society.

Sources then stressed the need to be firm in imposing penalties on anyone who attempted to attack or harm doctors, as well as maintaining the dignity and professional and scientific value of doctors. In addition, security sources revealed that last Friday, the officers at Raqqa Police Station registered a misdemeanor case – assaulting and abusing an employee on duty.
