The environmental committee discusses all items on agenda

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The Capital Governorate Committee in the Municipal Council approved the request of the General Staff of the National Guard to allocate a site for a multi-story parking building to serve Al-Samoud camp in the Mubarakiya Camps area. It also approved the Kuwait Ports Authority’s request to allocate part of the site for the tenth storage area in Doha for the benefit of the Ministry of Defense. The committee, headed by Fahad Al-Abd Al-Jader, referred to the Legal Department the letter from the head of the Municipal Council regarding the allocation of land for the oil complex in Shuwaikh area, for the legal opinion regarding the transaction if its subject falls within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council.

The committee also referred to the executive branch for the item related to developing the Liberation Tower and Safat Square intersection and linking them to Mubarakiya, in addition to proposing the presence of an electric tram surface train within Kuwait City to prepare a study on them. It also referred to the municipality the proposal of member Abdullah Al-Enezi regarding allocating land in Jaber Al-Ahmad city for the purpose of establishing a multi-purpose social hall to address the Ministry of Social Affairs and update the response thereon.

The committee maintained the request submitted by members of the Municipal Council Khaled Al-Mutairi, Dr. Hassan Kamal, Ismail Behbehani, Abdullah Al-Enezi, and Nasser Al-Jadaan regarding the continued closure of traffic at the Darwazat Al-Abdul Razzaq intersection, with the request of the Government Performance Monitoring Agency, Kuwait University, and the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation to discuss it.

The committee reserved the proposal submitted by Dr. Abdullah Al-Enezi regarding converting Street No. 141 in Sharq, Block 4 from investment use to commercial use. It also reserved the proposal submitted by member Fahad Al-Abduljader regarding creating parking lots at Saad bin Abada Primary School for Boys in Adailiya.

Meanwhile, the Environmental Affairs Committee of the Municipal Council, during its meeting recently, headed by member Alia Al Farsi, discussed all the items on its agenda and decided to refer them back to the executive body to update the response regarding them and obtain a technical opinion.

These items included the proposals submitted by the member Architect Sharifa Al-Shalfan such as the proposal to recycle plastic bottles and their covers, the proposal for an aerobic composting project, and the proposals for maintaining the cleanliness of the beaches and the marine environment. The committee also referred back to the executive branch the proposal submitted by Alia Al-Farsi regarding allocating land for date palm cultivation in the north of the country.

The proposal was referred to in order to update the response regarding it and expedite the response of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Regarding the minutes of the first workshop of the Environmental Affairs Committee in the second session of the 13th legislative term of the Municipal Council, which was held last month, the committee recommended that it be referred back to the executive branch, provided that the committee adopts prevention and reduction of the sand on the road phenomenon.
