KUWAIT CITY, Sep 29: In a significant security achievement, the General Department for Drug Control (GDDC) has successfully seized a massive quantity of narcotics and weapons from two illegal residents following a carefully planned investigation and surveillance operation.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the operation led to the confiscation of approximately 500,000 Captagon pills, 100,000 Lyrica capsules, and two firearms with ammunition.

The case began after Kuwaiti authorities received intelligence from a neighbouring country regarding the imminent arrival of a large shipment of psychotropic substances into Kuwait. Acting swiftly, the GDDC intensified security efforts, gathering information and tracking potential suspects.

Investigations revealed that the intended recipients of the shipment were two individuals with prior drug-related convictions. With authorization from the Public Prosecution, security teams conducted a raid in the Salmiya area, arresting the suspects. Subsequent searches of their homes in Taima uncovered the smuggled narcotics and weapons.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the operation demonstrates the high level of readiness, vigilance, and efficiency of Kuwait’s security forces. It reaffirmed its firm stance against drug smuggling and trafficking, pledging to continue its decisive efforts to protect society from narcotic toxins and safeguard the nation’s security.
