Kuwait City, Oct 30: Reiterating the importance of regular screening and self-examination in the battle against breast cancer, Kuwait Financial Centre "Markaz" conducted an awareness seminar for its employees. Held in support of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the seminar was organized in collaboration with Taiba Hospital.

The awareness initiative comes in line with Markaz's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and one of its key pillars - Building Human Capacity – aiming at educating its employees and their families about the disease and encouraging them to undergo an annual screening.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide and in the Middle East, claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of brave fighters annually. Early detection of the condition will increase the chance of cure and enable these individuals to live a prolonged and fulfilling life.

A highly engaging and interactive educational lecture by Dr. Laila AlZaghal AlMajali, Head of Department, Obstetrics & Gynecology Consultant at Taiba Hospital, shed light on the causes, early symptoms and signs of the disease, risk factors, measures to reduce the chances, and the advancement in medical science in treating breast cancer. She also emphatically underscored the importance of breast self-examination and performing a mammogram screening and responded to questions from the attendees.

Commenting on this initiative, Sondos Saad, Vice President of Media and Communications at Markaz, said: "At Markaz, we firmly believe that awareness programs play a pivotal role in making a discernible impact in combating breast cancer. As an institution with a social responsibility, we are deeply committed to nurturing healthy lifestyles within the community. This inspires us to engage in meaningful endeavors that empower people with knowledge and help us create a positive change in society."

Furthermore, Markaz extends support to its employees and their families to undergo screening for breast cancer through its internal soft rewards program "Hadiya," which offers exclusive discounts for them at several hospitals.
