KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: Several members of cooperative society boards of directors submitted their resignations in recent days, in compliance with Ministerial Resolution 1432/2025 issued by Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali, which regulates the affiliation of military personnel and prohibits their participation in civilian activities outside the military establishment, as per sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Sources confirmed that the concerned cooperatives have started taking legal steps to fill the vacant seats. Sources pointed out that reserve members will replace the resigning members in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures. Sources explained that the scope of the resolution is not limited to cooperative societies, as it also covers charitable societies, public benefit associations and other civilian bodies in which military personnel are prohibited from participating.
Ministerial Decree No. 1432/2025 stipulates in its first article the prohibition of military personnel from participating in civilian associations, unions and bodies, whether as members or employees of public benefit associations, syndicates, club and federation boards of directors, or committees not specifically designated for the military establishment. This was done to maintain the neutrality of the military and ensure its members’ dedication to their professional duties.
