Man Posing As Police Officer Robs Expat at Knifepoint

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Jahra detectives have launched an investigation and begun efforts to apprehend an unidentified individual who robbed an expatriate in the Jahra area. The Deputy Public Prosecutor has classified the case as a felony, specifically under the charge of theft by threat and use of violence.

According to a security source, the incident occurred when an expatriate, born in 1993, reported to officers at the Jahra police station that he had been robbed in the early hours of the morning. The victim stated that at approximately 4:15 a.m., while he was walking in Jahra, an unknown person driving a vehicle stopped beside him. The suspect then brandished a knife and demanded to see the victim’s identification, telling him that he was a cop.

The assailant proceeded to steal the victim’s wallet, which contained his civil ID, two bank cards, and 35 Kuwaiti dinars in cash. Following the report, Jahra detectives were immediately notified and responded to the scene of the crime, which was identified as Block 5 in Jahra.

Investigators noted the presence of surveillance cameras in the area, which captured footage of the suspect during the commission of the crime. Authorities are currently reviewing the video evidence as part of their ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.

The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in bringing the suspect to justice.
