KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Major General Hamed Al-Dawas, Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs, recently highlighted the results of enhanced security cooperation between Kuwait, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and other Arab and international partners. This cooperation has led to the successful identification of numerous criminal cases and the apprehension of suspects in their respective countries.
In a press interview with Al-Anbaa, Major General Al-Dawas emphasized the role of the investigations department as a key player in crime prevention. He noted that the department aims to move beyond mere crime resolution to actively prevent crimes through various awareness programs. Among the new initiatives for the criminal security sector are the expansion of the biometric fingerprint project, the creation of a digital evidence department, the use of artificial intelligence in forensic autopsy with 3D X-ray technology, and the unification of security data systems.
Major General Al-Dawas reported that the biometric system project is progressing smoothly, creating a robust digital database to reduce forgery and identify wanted individuals. He also addressed the ongoing issue of drug trafficking, noting Kuwait’s vulnerability as a target for drug dealers. He assured that the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the General Department for Combating Drugs, is actively working to combat drug smuggling operations.
The Major General highlighted the increase in theft and juvenile crime during the summer months and mentioned that the General Department of Criminal Investigations is studying these trends to propose effective preventive measures.
