LOS ANGELES, March 5, (Agencies): Lindsay Lohan is eagerly anticipating her return to the screen alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in the much-anticipated sequel to Freaky Friday. The 37-year-old actress shared that the new movie is currently in progress, although she couldn't disclose details about the filming schedule or the status of the script. Despite the uncertainties, Lohan expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "I'm just excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it."
Maintaining regular communication, Lohan mentioned that she and Curtis, 65, talk almost every other day, contributing to the anticipation of an enjoyable collaboration. During a recent appearance on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live, Lohan confirmed the ongoing development of the Freaky Friday sequel, emphasizing the shared excitement between her and Curtis for the project.
Last year, as Freaky Friday marked its 20th anniversary, Curtis sparked discussions about a potential sequel in various interviews. The Oscar-winner and Lohan even participated in a joint interview where they reminisced about creating the beloved comedy centered around a mother-daughter duo experiencing a body-switch.
Reflecting on the global interest in the movie during her travels for Halloween Ends, Curtis reached out to Disney, expressing her conviction that there was potential for a sequel. Lohan emphasized their openness to the idea, affirming they would only embark on a project that people would wholeheartedly adore.
Mark Harmon, who portrayed Curtis' character's partner in the original film, echoed Curtis' influence in making the sequel a reality. Having known Curtis since she was 15, the former NCIS star, now 72, expressed confidence in the project, stating, "If she's talking about it, then it'll happen because all things happen." Harmon shared his insights during an interview with Kelly Clarkson in November 2023.
