Misunderstanding in horse beauty contest

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Lawyer Mubarak Al-Khashab filed a complaint with Sabah Al-Salem police against an officer working in a sensitive position and head of a minister’s office, accusing them of threat and assault.

The two accused are said to have attacked the plaintiff and his brother at stable following an argument on sidelines of a horse beauty contest organized by Beit Al-Arab, reports Al-Rai daily.

Witnesses said Al-Khashab stable is one of the most prominent competitors in the Arabian horse beauty contest, and during the first day of the tournament, announcement of the official results delayed due to unclear circumstances especially as the competition involved a horse for a Saudi prince.

They added that Al-Khashab and his brother tried to find out the reason for the delay based on rumors circulated that results were being amended. Head of the minister’s office intervened and tried to keep Al-Khashab away from the arbitration committee but the latter told him to move away since he was not a worker at the tournament.

An argument later erupted between them but it was resolved due to the timely intervention of some attendees. After the results were officially declared announcing the triumph of Al-Khashab horse, the plaintiff went to his stable.
To his surprise, director of the minister’s office accompanied by 30 men and his relative who works in a sensitive position attacked him but neighbors and friends of Al-Khashab succeeded in driving them away and restored calm.
Meanwhile, Al-Khashab tried to participate in the second day of competition but was surprised when the accused started abusing him, which caused him to withdraw from the competition to file a complaint with security operatives.
