KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: Kuwait Municipality stated that abandoned vehicles pose an environmental burden and distort the overall appearance, urging their owners not to leave the vehicles in public squares and streets to avoid fines and fees. In a press statement on Tuesday, the Municipality clarified that abandoning a vehicle exposes its owner to a fine of not less than KD100, in addition to charges for transportation and daily vehicle impoundment. Moreover, the Municipality denied the alleged expropriation of six plots in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh.
It affirmed that the problems in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh are being addressed under the proposals submitted for study, to organize the area in a civilized manner that matches its distinguished location. It pointed out that the proposals presented recently to the Council of Ministers do not include expropriation. It said these proposals aim to raise the level of services by establishing public facilities and necessary services according to the new uses, and organizing the external and internal roads network in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh to keep pace with the development of the surrounding areas. This is in addition to developing the infrastructure network for electricity, water, sewage and rainwater drainage, and organizing the population structure in the area.
