KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: Kuwait’s Ministry of Education has referred around 150 employees in teaching and administrative departments who have completed 34 years of service to retirement, informed sources revealed on Monday.
The sources said the decision is part of the Ministry’s policy to rejuvenate the educational sector and provide opportunities for young talent to take on academic and administrative responsibilities. The retirement of staff who have completed 34 years of active service will be implemented immediately, without waiting until the end of the year.
However, under the directives of the Minister of Education, Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabai, teaching staff, have been exempted from immediate retirement, with their exit postponed until the end of the current academic year. This measure aims to maintain stability in the educational process and ensure uninterrupted studies without staffing shortages.
Officials emphasized that the move aligns with the Civil Service Commission's regulations concerning maximum length of service and reflects the Ministry’s efforts to redistribute the workforce according to the needs of educational districts and schools.
The Ministry also highlighted the valuable contributions of the retiring educators and administrators, describing them as a cornerstone in the development of Kuwait’s educational system.
