KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: A notable improvement in road discipline has been observed across Kuwait, with traffic violations dropping by more than half within just five days, thanks to the Ministry of Interior’s strict enforcement measures, advanced surveillance systems, and ongoing public awareness campaigns.
According to security sources, the Ministry’s combined efforts—highlighting the seriousness of traffic officers in enforcing the law, the deployment of new-generation monitoring cameras, and the growing awareness among citizens and residents—have led to a remarkable 55% reduction in violations between October 20 and 25. These violations include serious offenses such as overtaking from the wrong side, obstructing traffic, and parking in prohibited areas, all of which now carry penalties that may include vehicle impoundment for up to 60 days.
Statistics recorded by the Ministry show that on Saturday, October 25, 365 violations were documented by smart cameras for overtaking and obstructing traffic at highways and intersections—a sharp decrease from 823 violations recorded on Monday, October 20. A well-informed security source described this as “a real achievement for the security personnel who enforce the law firmly and without leniency.”
In a related development, the traffic police launched an extensive campaign across several hospital sites, resulting in 222 violations issued in a single day, ranging from obstructing traffic to illegal parking. Two vehicles were impounded at Jaber Hospital for serious offenses.
The source emphasized that these violators will not be allowed to settle fines until their vehicles are released from impound, reiterating that “such violations will not be tolerated, and the law will be enforced strictly.”
By location, Al-Adan Hospital topped the list with 80 violations, followed by Al-Jahra Hospital with 66, Al-Farwaniya Hospital with 22, Al-Amiri Hospital and Al-Sabah Medical District with 17 each, and Jaber Hospital with 9 violations. Two additional vehicles were prevented from entering hospital premises for obstructing ambulance access.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining traffic discipline through strict enforcement, advanced monitoring technology, and continuous awareness campaigns aimed at fostering a culture of road safety among all road users.
