KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: The Kuwaiti Al-Qadisiyah Club secured a victory on Sunday against their Saudi counterpart, Al-Fateh, in the 35th Arab Club Basketball Championship held in Doha. The final score stood at (79-62) in favor of Al-Qadisiyah.
Shayea Muhanna, the manager of the Al-Qadisiyah team, spoke to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and praised the performance of his team in the match. He noted that the technical level of play between the two teams was closely matched. Muhanna expressed optimism about the team's ability to deliver positive results in their upcoming matches.
Muhanna explained that the team didn't exhibit a high technical level in the first quarter of the match. However, the players regrouped, particularly in the fourth and final quarter, where they managed to take the lead and defeat Saudi Al-Fateh. He emphasized that the tournament featured formidable Arab teams.
It's worth noting that the Arab Club Basketball Championship, inaugurated in Doha, is scheduled to continue until October 12. The titleholder from the previous edition is Kuwait's Al-Kuwait club.
The tournament includes 18 Arab teams divided into four groups:
- Group 1: Clubs from Qatar, Bahrain (Muharraq), Palestine (Khadam Al-Bureij), and Kuwait.
- Group 2: Clubs from Egypt (Al-Ittihad Alexandria), Oman (Seib), Qatar (Al-Ahly), Lebanon (Dynamo), and Algeria (Ittihad of Algeria).
- Group 3: Clubs from Kuwait (Al-Qadisiyah), Yemen (Sanaa Unit), Morocco (Salé Association), and Saudi Arabia (Al-Fateh).
- Group 4: Clubs from Libya (Al-Ittihad), Iraq (Degla Al-Jamaa), Morocco (Majd Tangier), Lebanon (Beirut), and Egypt (Al-Ahly).
