KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: The Misdemeanor Court sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to six-month imprisonment with hard labor for duping a girl (the plaintiff) with promises of marriage and swindling KD 42,000 from her after convincing her to invest in a fake commercial project, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the case file, the Public Prosecution charged the defendant with embezzlement and fraud charges.

The prosecuting attorney Lawyer Abdul-Mohsen Al-Qattan argued that the defendant intended to defraud his client, and that she has a criminal record for a similar crime.

He explained that the accused gave hope to the victim to earn profit in a business scam that the defendant had organized, and took advantage of his unsuspecting preys to swindle their savings.
