KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16, (Agencies): First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah chaired on Thursday the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation. In a statement, the committee said it decided to strip Kuwaiti citizenship from a number of individuals, with the matter referred to the cabinet. Those citizenships were revoked due to dual citizenships, forgery, fraud, attaining documents via affiliation and conflict with the state’s supreme interest, it added.
Meanwhile, the official gazette “Kuwait Al- Youm” published in its latest issue a decision issued by the Supreme Nationality Investigation Committee to revoke the Kuwaiti citizenship of six individuals, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The decision is based on Article 11 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 concerning Kuwaiti nationality and its amendments. Article 11 states that a Kuwaiti citizen shall lose their nationality if they voluntarily acquire a foreign nationality.
