KUWAIT CITY, June 18: The Criminal Court sentenced a citizen to 10 years in prison with hard labor for stabbing to death a compatriot with a knife, and then ordered referral of the civil case to the concerned court, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with intentionally killing the victim.

Case files indicate that as soon as the defendant got hold of the victim, he stabbed the latter several times with the intent of killing him. This caused fatal injuries in different parts of the victim’s body as described in the forensic report.

Lawyer for the victim’s family, Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan, attended the session, during which he asked the court to amend the charge from murder to premeditated murder. He argued the surveillance camera recordings of the crime and other pieces of evidence clearly showed all the elements of premeditated murder.
